Gretchen Whitmer, the governor of Michigan, referred to Mark as a “fearless trailblazer,” a “icon and a leader who could encourage, empower, motivate and inspire individuals to achieve their goals and be their best selves” in a statement through email.
Michigan’s secretary of state, Jocelyn Benson, made a claim on X. Mark “was the ultimate woman from Michigan, blazing a trail and mentoring all of us,” according to Mark, who used this medium in place of Twitter.
Mark, who once held the record for the most Weight Watchers facilities globally, founded her first franchise in Michigan in 1966. She donated her final franchise to Weight Watchers’ parent company in 2021.
In the 1960s, she nearly overdosed on diet pills, and Mark first got involved with Weight Watchers.
Florine Mark, a well-known entrepreneur in the Detroit area and the former president and CEO of The Weight Watchers Group, has died, according to The Ira Kaufman Chapel in Southfield.
The age of Mark is 90. No justification was provided. A few days before she passed away, she spoke to WXYZ about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Israel.
