Don Scheer Obituary, Death – In Center, Nebraska, on February 8, 1936, Rose R. Koenig Scheer and Martin George Scheer welcomed their first child into the world. Don moved to Wyoming at the age of fourteen in order to begin working on the Cross Ranch in Dubois. At the time, Don was living in Nebraska. Don worked and attended Dubois High School throughout his time living at the Cross Ranch.
He received his diploma from Dubois High School in 1954. Don wed Sally Black in 1957, and the following year, in 1958, he started working at the Cross Ranch in the Dunoir Valley. During the time that Don and Sally Scheer were expecting their first child, Grant, they were employed at the Rocker A Ranch. After that, Don and Sally found work at the Cross Mill Iron Ranch, and then they moved on to Burk Johnson’s ranch in Crowheart in 1959.
Which is the same year that Denice Scheer was born there. For the United States Forest Service, Don was in charge of cutting poles and spraying timber. Don and Sally decided to purchase a trailer, which they then towed to the location of the former Community Corrals, which was located on Doug Johnson’s property east of Dubois. Don and Sally got a divorce in 1963, but they have remained best friends ever since.
The wedding took place on March 25, 1964, between Don and Roberta Ruth Brown. Don was earning a fortune out of riding bareback horses and doing it as a hobby. Theresa was Don and Ruth’s first daughter, and she was born on April 9, 1965, when the couple was still residing in the apartments located directly across from the VFW. Don once more worked for Dean Metzger at the Rustic Pine Tavern, the CM Ranch, and the Cross Mill Iron.
He also worked as a bartender at the CM Ranch. Ruth and Don Scheer welcomed a son into the world on August 3, 1967, and they gave him the name Thomas Gene. Don went back to his job with the United States Forest Service, which involved spraying trees. Don also had a career in the oil and gas industry. Don decided to pursue a career in law enforcement and joined the Fremont County Sheriff’s Department.
Approximately three years were spent by Don working for the Sheriff’s Department. Don was the lone member of the Dubois City Police force at the time, thus he was responsible for that department as well. In 1973, Don and Ruth purchased the Moon Lake Hunting Camp for their family. Don and Ruth have been hunting and fishing guides for a large number of people, including the actor Mike Douglas. Don went on a number of drop trips that took him throughout the mountains of Wyoming. In the year 2000, Don and Ruth sold the campground. Don cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren and found tremendous satisfaction in spending time with them.
